Sakara Level II Detox Review

While I don’t subscribe to diet culture, I do think it’s ok to hit the reset button every now and then. So after a couple of vacations where I let myself indulge more than normal I decided to do just that with the Sakara Level II Detox. It’s a 5-day detox that eliminates meat, dairy, gluten, sugar (including fruit), nuts, soy, pesticides, nightshades, alcohol and caffeine. While weight loss is likely, the goal of the detox is to reset the body while improving gut health, decreasing sugar cravings and increasing energy. Below is a day to day breakdown of how it went.

Day 1-3: Each day you start with a of glass water that includes their Beauty Water Drops. These contain 72 trace minerals that are hard to get through diet alone. You follow that with a nutritious meal for breakfast like a veggie hash or squash frittata and take your morning supplements. In between breakfast and lunch you drink a cup of the Digestive Tea which has peppermint, meadow sweet and gentian in it.

Lunch typically consists of a salad of some kind. LOTS of greens on the detox. In the afternoon you get this delicious coconut kefir drink. See pic below. It was definitely a fave item of mine and I’d buy these on the regular if I could.

Dinner each night was a medicinal broth. I chose to warm my up (it’s optional) and while I was definitely tired of it by the last day, it was oddly filling for broth. With dinner you take another couple set of supplements. Gut health specific ones and magnesium. Then I ended the night with their Detox (chlorophyll) Drops.

The second day was the hardest for me. I woke up with a major headache likely triggered by caffeine withdrawal. I was also really focused on how hungry I was on day 2. Thankfully I woke up with a lot of energy on day 3 so that carried me through. While they do suggest sticking firmly with the plan, you can add in some raw veggies like carrots or celery if you are really hungry and I did that one evening.

Day 4: This day is a liquid only day. There are 2 green juices, a carrot, ginger soup, the coconut kefir and medicinal broth. Surprisingly this was one of the easiest days for me. I love green juice so I am sure that helped.

Day 5: You implement whole, nutritious foods back into your diet. They are still very clean, detoxifying foods. I was definitely ready to be able to plan my own meals by the end here. I missed fruit and dark chocolate!

One of the things I love about this detox is that it includes whole foods that are aimed at healing your body and it also provides all the supplements needed to aid in this process. I already subscribe to Sakara’s The Foundation vitamin, and if I could also get some of these additional supplements from them I would. You also get a fantastic dry brush with the detox to use before showering each day. Dry brushing helps with lymphatic drainage and exfoliation.

Overall I felt great by the end of the detox. My energy was high, skin was clear and glowing and I was sleeping really well at night. Would I recommend this to others? I totally would if you already eat a fairly clean and healthy diet. If you don’t already eat pretty clean, but are looking to try something like this I would start with their Signature Level I meals. It was definitely challenging at times, and I kept reminding myself of why I signed up and that it was only 5 days. My morning coffee with oatmilk is what I missed the most and it was delish the morning I finally had it again, but I have cut my caffeine intake down since the detox.

Nicole
